The Northwest’s premier a cappella competition

The Event

The Rose City Sing-Off is a great event, showcasing some of the area’s leading high school a cappella groups. The Rose City Sing-Off is a chance for young talent to perform in front of judges as well as friends and families. Groups will experience Master classes provided by the University of Oregon Mind The Gap in the morning to further their experience, as well as networking with other schools throughout the day.

REYNOLD’S HIGH SCHOOL – IMPULSE

Impulse is the premier vocal ensemble at Reynolds High School! We are excited to be in our first year as an SSA ensemble and have performed in concerts and retirement homes in the Troutdale community. This is a year of firsts for us as it will be our first time Impulse has participated in the Rose City Sing off. We are excited to be involved with the larger part of the accapella community and meet and work with the organizers and other ensembles in Oregon. Thank you for this opportunity, see you on stage!

Ascend! is the premiere vocal ensemble at South Albany High School. These students meet at 6:40 every weekday morning, always striving to improve their skills, their music, and their personal bond together. After a two-year hiatus from festivals, Ascend! is definitely ready to be back entertaining audiences as well as supporting others that will do the same. Previous versions of Ascend! have sung at Walt Disney World, Pearl Harbor, Bend A Cappella Festival, ICHSA, as well as our favorite festival, the Rose City Sing-Off!

SUNSET HIGH SCHOOL – FREE TO BREATHE – 2022 2nd Place Winner

Free to Breathe formed in the fall of 2009 after Sunset High School students saw the ICCA finals in NYC and were blown away by this crazy thing called, “acappella music.” Over the years, Free to Breathe has had softball players, football players, skiers and skateboarders; vegans and carnivores; thespians and lesbians; Episcopalians, Buddhists, Mormons and Atheists. But one thing they ALL have in common: they love to sing with others and work hard to find that one harmony to unites us all!

SHERWOOD HIGH SCHOOL – MIXOLYDIANS – 2022 1st Place Winner

SHERWOOD HIGH SCHOOL – MIXOLYDIANS – 2022 1st Place Winner

The Sherwood High School Mixolydians are fun-loving musicians from Sherwood Oregon. In addition to singing, they love spending time together just as much as they love creating crowd-pleasing choreography. The Mixolydians have been participating in the ICHSA competitions for the past nine years, and placed 1st at the quarter-final competition in 2020 and most recently placed 3rd in the 2022 ICHSA event. The Mixolydians have also enjoyed performing at the Bend Acappella festival the last few years which was a huge highlight working with Deke Sharon! They are proud of multiple awards over the years for best beatboxer, best arrangement, and best choreography. The Mixolydians are so happy to be back performing at the Rose City Sing off! This event has been such a great experience for the group and we are beyond excited to see all the fine groups perform live this evening!
